Social

We are committed to protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, and to play a role in supporting local communities and arresting societal issues.

Our first priority is to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our people. This is fundamental to our continued success.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Our safety motto, “Primed for Safety” is not a throwaway catchphrase. But rather, a statement of attitude to ensure we keep our people safe at all times. We constantly review our health, safety and wellbeing performance and implement internal campaigns and measures to improve this.

Our Health & Safety Management System is certified to the international standard ISO 45001:2018.

Workplace Diversity, Equality and Inclusion
We recognise the benefits of workplace diversity where individual differences and contributions are embraced.

Our priority is to provide a workplace free of discrimination, harassment and bullying, and to increase both female and Aboriginal participation across the whole organisation.

Indigenous Australians
We are committed to respecting the rights of Indigenous Australians and preserving their culture and customs in the communities in which we operate.

Our Indigenous Engagement Strategy is focused on:

  • Cultural recognition and awareness.
  • Indigenous procurement and contracting.
  • Indigenous employment and development.
  • Community involvement.

People Development and Engagement
Our people truly are our greatest asset and are central to our past and continued success.

Our People Development Program comprises:

  • Leadership DNA – management and supervisory development.
  • LEAP – Leaders Emerging at Primero.
  • Graduate development.
  • Apprenticeships.
  • Traineeships.
  • SUCCEED@Primero – new starter buddy program.
  • Primero “Blue Bloods” – recognising long-term employee contribution.

We can only improve our culture by seeking feedback from our people on what we do well and where we need to improve.

Primero has developed an extensive Employee Engagement Program, comprising:

  • New starter feedback.
  • Annual employee engagement survey conducted our global operations.
  • Office and site engagement sessions conducted across our whole workforce.

Community
We recognise the need and positive impact of supporting the community where we can.

Whilst as a business we do not have infinite financial resources and we recognise there are many deserving community groups, causes and charities, our approach to Community Engagement is based on two considerations;

  1. Partnering with a single charity to arrest a societal issue.
  2. Identifying opportunities to engage our people to support our chosen charity.

We are proud of our team for their fundraising efforts to support a number of charities.

  • Cash donation.
  • Christmas Hamper Drive.
  • Fundraising.
  • Staff volunteering opportunities to assist with weekly support activities.

UWA Motorsport
Since 2022, Primero has proudly supported UWA Motorsport.

The UWA Motorsport Team is a student team that annually designs, builds and tests an open-wheeled electric race car to compete in the Formula SAE competition held in Melbourne. The Formula SAE competition is the largest student engineering design competition in the world. The team focuses on fostering an environment where students can grow industry-ready design and engineering skills, allowing them to take their learning above and beyond the classroom.

Primero is incredibly proud to support the UWA Motorsport Team, enabling students to test their engineering and design prowess. We wish the team the very best of success.
