Michael is an experienced professional with over 30 years of experience in the resource sector across sugar refining, aluminium, iron ore and major projects.

Before joining Primero, Michael was the President of Alcoa of Australia Ltd and Vice President of Alcoa’s Australian Operations. Other senior positions held include:

• Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Managing Director – Pilbara Mines.
• Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Chief Operating Officer – Pilbara Projects.
• Rio Tinto Iron Ore, General Manager roles in operations & projects.
• Alcoa, Project Director – Jamalco Unit 3.

Michael was a past President of the Australian Aluminium Council and a former director of the Australian Institute of Management, Western Australia. He graduated from the Queensland Institute of Technology with honours in Mechanical Engineering and holds a Master of Business Administration from Curtin University, Perth.

His career has provided him the opportunity to work in different parts of Australia (Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland) and, other parts of the world including Jamaica and Canada.
