The Tennessee Lithium Project is a Piedmont Lithium Project. Piedmont Lithium’s headquarters is located in Charlotte, NC. Piedmont selected a consortium of Kiewit Corporation and Primero Group to execute the Feasibility and FEED of a grassroots Lithium Hydroxide facility.
Located in Tennessee, Piedmont’s Tennessee Lithium project is being designed to produce lithium hydroxide from spodumene concentrate using the alkaline leach process flow sheet, enabling lower emissions and carbon intensity as well as improved capital and operating costs relative to incumbent operations.
Primero was selected based on a deep history of mining and lithium experience gained in Australia along with a long-standing relationship with piedmont during early development. Lithium experience and the established relationship were key to being selected.
Primero is a specialized design-build firm with strong lithium industry know-how that has supported piedmont’s development since early 2018.
The scope of work awarded to Primero includes the engineering and design of the Pyromet and Hydromet circuits. In addition, Primero is responsible for all technical procurement and vendor management of the core process plant.
Tennessee Lithium is planned to be a world-class lithium hydroxide production facility. Located in the city of Etowah and McMinn County, the plant is expected to produce 30,000mt of lithium hydroxide per year, double the amount of lithium hydroxide currently being produced in the united states.
