SCOPE

BHP’s Mining Area C is an operating iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 92km North-West of Newman. Opened in 2003, the Area C Mine produces 42 million tonnes per annum for export via rail to Port Hedland.

The project required the delivery of works across a full complement of engineering disciplines spanning civil, concrete and earthworks, structural, mechanical, piping, process and electrical including extensive 3D modelling of buildings and other facilities.

Primero also delivered various HSE components of the project facilitating HAZOPs and Safety in Design workshops as well as demonstrating full compliance with all BHP standards and specifications throughout the project.
