Primero was founded in 2011, with a vision to create a vertically integrated EPC business that could operate in the Mineral Processing, Energy and Non-Process Infrastructure market segments as a turnkey solution provider.
Since inception the company has grown and diversified to, at time of publication, employ over 700 people globally delivering projects in over ten different countries spanning five continents. Primarily Western Australian based for the first four years, the group now occupies Perth, Port Hedland, Adelaide and Montreal, Quebec Canada. The company’s rapid growth and international footprint is testament to our growing reputation for delivering quality outcomes and honouring our commitments in full, on time.

Culture not Compliance
The motto “Primed for Safety” embodies our culture-not-compliance approach to zero harm and is a statement that has become an identity of its own navigating operational activities from off-site management, through fabrication and logistics areas to ultimately our most at risk workface being our construction and commissioning crews.
Primero has developed a strong safety culture in eight years of operation. Safety metrics demonstrate an exemplary safety record to date which is largely driven by visible frontline safety leadership of Directors and Executive leadership team alike. The self-performance of construction activity ensures we can retain our teams and continuously influence our positive safety culture.
Safety in Design
Primero take a systematic approach the identification, assessment and control of risk. Like constructability, safety can be positively influenced by taking a considered and deliberate approach to fit for purpose design. A safe workplace is of paramount importance, we consider safety in design to be more than an activity we undertake in order to be compliant; it’s about fostering an integrated culture of safety that extends beyond our operations and constructional work fronts. Virtual reality is often employed during design reviews or HAZOB workshops to identify conflict and / or constraints with respect to safety or functionality. Our Safety in Design philosophy is underpinned by the following foundations:
- Integration – The safety in design process is integrated into Primero’s Design Review process
- Knowledge – Staff knowledge and retention, training, lessons learnt Company database, integration of historic data into current projects
- Communication – Model reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, lessons learnt, implementation and virtual reality
- Documentation – Risk register, change register, checklists, safety in design report.

The team are always encouraged to participate in community events, often raising funds for non-profit or charity organisations in the process. HBF’s run for a reason, city to surf and the MSWA ocean ride regularly feature in the calendar.
